The Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the energy and mining laboratory staff and managing their departments.
The Lab Manager also provides the commercial team with information that will assist them in making educated decisions about their options for testing of current commercial and experimental products in the IBC portfolio.
Precision, accuracy, and attention to detail are of the utmost importance to the Lab Manager, providing scientists with clear and concise task and project instructions.
The Lab Manager also has responsibility for lab cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and office space organization.
The primary job of Lab Manager is to translate the VP Energy's and VP Mining's needs to laboratory scientists, asking questions and conducting research to further the company's understanding of product chemistry as it pertains to use in Energy and Mining applications.
This is a full-time, exempt position.

Essential Functions Oversee the activities of the energy and mining laboratory for the accurate and timely reporting of data to fulfill requests for commercial opportunities.
Task laboratory scientists with work and projects that support energy and mining commercial teams.
Work with production and engineering teams to facilitate a product going from R&D to production.
Manage the equipment and facilities used for billable lab services and for commercial development opportunities.
Provide technical support and advice to the commercial and operations teams.
Writing technical reports for commercial opportunities, as requested by the commercial team.
Understanding all of the testing functions provided by the lab.
Developing testing strategies for the services mentioned above, including developing and communicating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
Be self-motivated and self-guided in the absence of senior leadership.
Requirements Bachelors in Chemistry or related field.
Five to ten (5-10) years of laboratory management experience.
Five to ten (5-10) years of Oil & Gas research laboratory experience.
Strong understanding of surface science, including surfactants and clay minerology.
Leadership skills to develop a competent laboratory team.
Team player with a passion to win and grow daily.
Superior critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in the use of computers, and programs like Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Experience with drilling fluids, paraffin amelioration, and corrosion and scale inhibition a plus.
Must pass a criminal background upon offer acceptance.
Stoops, bends, reaches and lifts occasionally throughout the day.
Must be able to step in and work on every possible testing procedure in the lab.
Must be able to occasionally move up to 25 lbs.
Ability to design projects and facilitate their completion.
Ability to understand and convey complex information with a high degree of accuracy.
Works under a moderate to high degree of stress.
